Merry Christmas!
Well, it's almost the end of another year. The warm weather has come and gone to make way for Fall and now Winter will be here December 21st.  Once again, it's time to get ready for the Holiday Season! Have you started your shopping yet? We started the first weekend in December, but still have some to do. I plan to sneak away and do the rest of my shopping by the middle of December. We have yet to get our tree! We've been so busy!

The kids are looking forward to Christmas. They do every year. They've been asking about Christmas since early fall. I did manage to put up the fake Christmas Tree at our cottage, which made the kids very happy. They enjoyed helping me put it together and decorating it. That should hold them over for a little while until we go out and get a real tree to put up at our main house.

November was a busy month for me. Of course, real estate never slowed down. That's a great thing! I've been showing homes and property just about every weekend and many weekdays. I also want to thank everyone for such a wonderful year. I've met a lot of wonderful people again this year.

And of course, for those of you that know me, I went deer hunting the last two weeks of November. My husband and I decided to stay around Gladwin this year. Sometimes we go up to the U.P. to hunt, but since things were so busy this year, we thought it would be a good idea to hunt around here. It was a warm hunting season, which wasn't good for hunting. We were both skunked this year. It wasn't a good hunting season. We heard the same thing from several other hunters around the state. Needless to say, neither of us go a deer this year and we'll have to fill our freezer up with stuff from the store this winter.

We plan of having a White Christmas this year. We've already had a few good snows and more in the forecast. It was beautiful a few days ago, with the fresh snow sticking to all of the trees. Many places looked like winter post cards. Our kids have been having their fun playing out in the snow, building snowmen and attempting to build snow forts.

On the first day of good snow, we let our 6 month old German Shepard pup outside to see what she would do. She'd never seen snow before and this was something new! At first she didn't know what to think. She just stood there and looked at it. Then she put one paw down into it and started sniffing around. Before we knew it, she was jumping and pouncing around in the snow, burying her nose into the snow and rolling around. The kids and I watched her from the window while we laughed at her silliness.

I'm not much of a winter person, but the snow is still pretty to look at.

Again it's time to remember what the Holiday Season is really all about. It's not about the shopping, the decorating and the feasts. It's not about how many presents you get or how much ham and turkey you can stuff yourself with in one setting! It's about spending time with family and friends, loving your neighbors, forgiving others that might have hurt you and giving to those who need. The season means something different to each person. No matter how you celebrate the season, don't forget to share it with the ones you love and give a little something to the community around you.

Wishing you a Warm and Happy Holiday!

Sincerely, Ivie Baker
