| I hope your summer has been full of precious moments! | ||||||||
| The picture above was taken toward the end of June, from our driveway in Sugar Springs, shortly after a storm rolled through. It was a spectacular double rainbow, even though only the brightest rainbow actually showed up in the photo. Of course, our daughter posed for the picture while our son slept through the whole thing on the couch. This summer has been flying by extra fast. It seems like each year the time goes faster and faster, only to slow down a little bit during the colder months when we are all stuck inside due to cold weather. August is here and school time is only a few short weeks away. The stores are already putting the school supplies up for sale on their shelves, but I don't want the warmer weather to end just yet! It seems like it only just begun! We've had a busy summer in more ways than one. It's been difficult to break away from our ties here. There is always work to do, but we still manage to find time to spend with our kids. There has been the evenings at the beach, the county fair and the evening walks (or runs) with the kids while they take turns riding the only bike with training wheels! Our four year old son is learning to master the bike, but he isn't quite strong enough to go up and down the big hills. That's where his bigger sister comes in and does the hard work of or riding the bike down the big hill while we run after her to keep up. Then she switches with her brother again so that he can ride on the flatter ground, only to switch back when it's time to go back uphill. Our cottage rental has been booked up most of the summer and I've been over there every week cleaning for the next group to come in on their vacation. Fortunately, we did get to spend a week at the cottage towards the end of the month of June. During our stay, we actually got to see the bear during daylight hours! Well, almost daylight hours. This photo to the right was taken June 18th at about 9:30 in the evening with our digital camera. It's not the best picture, because the digital camera doesn't do well for long distance photos. I had to lighten up the photo quite a bit so that you could actually make out the image of the bear in the picture. That's why the picture looks a little foggy. He (or she) is a big fella. He was walking by our travel trailer about 80 feet or so away from the house, so it may give you an idea how tall he is when he is walking on all fours. The kids got to spend a week down state with their grandparents in June and Jim and I got a chance to experience what it was like to be on our own for a few days. It had been a long time since we didn't have to worry about getting a babysitter before we went out for an evening or when we went to work. Of course, by the end of the week we were anxious to have them come home. The house just seemed to be too quiet with them gone. They had a wonderful time and got a chance to spend some precious time with their grandfather, grandmothers and aunt and uncle. August still holds a lot of memories to be made. I'm just hoping that it doesn't slip by too fast so that I can savor the summer for just a little longer. Or course, I always love the fall season, but for now it can wait. I hope that the rest of your summer is an enjoyable one. Until next month! Sincerely, Ivie Baker PS: If you should have any friends or family that are looking to buy or sell any real estate in the future, please feel free to give me a call.
